Last night we headed over to HUNTCLUB Studio (a new multidisciplinary studio and gallery space in Toronto’s Little Italy), for their Songs that Saved Me – typography/illustration show. The premis of the show? Simple, to pull you out of your seasonal depression by taking you on a lyrical journey that remind you of those warmer days, crazy nights, and overall good times. Darlene (one of the founders of the HUNTCLUB) teamed up with local artists and encouraged them to create pieces featuring lyrics/words from a song that uplifted them through their toughest times.
Aside from bringing local artists together the HUNTCLUB has a second mission/mandate one that I personally love, affordable art. Pieces are priced to sell, as it is HUNTCLUB’s mandate to make purchasing art a feasible activity for our community. You have the opportunity to not only purchase the originals but also affordable prints of your favorite pieces to keep you inspired throughout this dark winter season.
The opening reception is January 17, 2013, from 7pm – 11pm and will remain on exhibition from 12pm-8pm on weekdays (closed on Mondays) and from 12-6pm on weekends. The show will remain on exhibition until February 8, 2013.
