A Night Out With Polo Ralph Lauren

For over 40 years, Polo Ralph Lauren has captivated the world over with his innovative interpretation of elegant Americana.  It has provided men from all over the world with classic, timeless and refined pieces that evoke the modern chic gentleman.  So it came as no surprise that the relaunch of the Polo Ralph Lauren shop at The Bay Queen Street drew over 100 of Toronto’s most loyal Polo Ralph Lauren followers (despite the wind and rain).  Succulent lamb skewers, tasty jerk mini-burgers, beer and wine were all served, as the shop was cordoned off for this special night.  Men from all backgrounds and ages were in attendance to mingle, shop and engross themselves in the Polo world.

But the main attraction was the fashion presentation hosted by Russell Smith (Globe & Mail columnist) and Lindsay Falk (Ralph Lauren).  For Fall 2009, Ralph Lauren’s Polo collection focused on the country estate gentleman.  The inspiration laid somewhere in between the quintessential American country mansion and the thirties/collegiate-influenced American man. Utilizing classic patterns (argyle, Fair Isle, tartans etc.) and his iconic Americana pieces, Ralph Lauren went back to where it all started for his empire: the dandy prep.  6 looks were shown throughout the presentation that conveyed the Polo Ralph Lauren man…

For Fall 2009, Bedford Estate showed Ralph Lauren’s love of classic American sportswear.  Inspired by sportsmen from the 1920’s and 1930’s, he mixed equestrian and hunting inspired styles with plaids, leathers and tweeds.
